The Catch Fishing Report 02/02/07
Greetings angler,
February has arrived in the Gunnison Valley and along with it comes longer days and seasonal temperatures. Fishing is fun and rewarding this time of year as afternoons are typically mild and sunny, with fish in their winter holding areas. Check out this current fishing report for the Gunnison River from Almont Anglers:
Gunnison River (Almont to Blue Mesa)
Conditions: The warm stretch the last few days is making for some good fishing where you can find open water. The lower 1/3 of the gaurd rail hole is open and growing daily, the river chanel in currecantti is starting to see the ice break and could start to open soon if the warming trend continues. Low flows and cold temps have the fish pooled up in the deeper runs. Best time is in the heat of the day from 12-3. Air temp at the hatchery was around 40 yesterday (01/26/07).
Hatches: midges
Flies: Brassie, zebra midge, miricle nymph, pt's and stones
Thanks for checking in today and thanks to Almont Anglers for today's report.
Fish-on!
