| RIVER | DESCRIPTION & FLIES Salmon can be found throughout the drainage |
EAST RIVER
| Conditions:These flows are ideal for wading the mile plus stretch of water at the Hatchery. Keep in mind this is fly fishing only water and at this time the lower section is closed to fishing due to the salmon run. Night time lows have been in the upper 20's and day time highs in the upper 60's, these colder temps have slowed the hatches in the am so look for more activity in the afternoons. This streatch is seeing alot of preasure from the salmon fishermen. Call now to book a trip w/ us and mention this report at time of booking and we will throw in 6 free flies! Hatches:B.W.O.'s 16-22(this is the primary hatch in the valley)and P.M.D.'s 14-18, Midges 18-22, Caddis 14-20(in yellow, olive and black), Terrestrials(Hoppers, ants and beatles) on the hotter afternoons. Flies:Dry-Adams, Wulffs, Trudes, Coachmen, Stimulators, Elk hair caddis, Goddard caddis, and hoppers. Nymph-Princes, P.T.'s, Haresear, 20incher, Copper John, Brassie and Coachmen. GUNNISON RIVER (Almont-Blue Mesa) | Conditions: Night time lows have been in the upper 20's and day time highs in the upper 60's, these colder temps have slowed the hatches in the am so look for more activity in the afternoons(look for hatches from 11:00am on).These flows are ideal for both the wade and float fisherman. The crowds have disapeared accept for the salmon holes. Float fishing has been extreemly productive for both the fly and lure fisherman over the last several weeks, so call now to book a trip w/ us and mention this report at time of booking and we will throw in 6 free flies! Hatches:B.W.O.'s 16-22(this is the primary hatch in the valley)and P.M.D.'s 14-18, Midges 18-22, Caddis 14-20(in yellow, olive and black), Terrestrials(Hoppers, ants and beatles) on the hotter afternoons San Juan Worms and egg patterns are working well w/ salmon and spawning browns. TAYLOR RIVER | Conditions: Night time lows have been in the upper 20's and day time highs in the upper 60's, these colder temps have slowed the hatches in the am so look for more activity in the afternoons.These flows are getting a little low for floating but great for wading. TAYLOR RIVER (Catch & Release Area) | The "Hog Trough" catch & release only some of the states largest Brown's & Rainbows to 20 pounds! Often difficult fishing. Conditions: Night time lows have been in the mid 20's and day time highs in the mid 60's, these colder temps have slowed the hatches in the am so look for more activity in the afternoons. Hatches: Mysis Shrimp14-22(year round), Caddis 14-18(Yellow,olive and tan), Stonefly's 8-14(orange and golden), Midges 18-22, P.M.D.'s , Terrestrials and B.W.O.'s. Flies:Dry-Stimulators, Elk hair caddis, Goddard caddis, Adams, Wulffs, Griffiths nat, P.M.D.'s, RS2 and midges. | SPRING CREEK & Upper TAYLOR | Spring Creek and the Upper Taylor arefishing well w/ dry/dropper rigs. Hatches of bwo's, yellow sallies and caddis have been good from mid day on as well as plenty of terrestrial action. Keep an eye on the weather especially in these parts! |
