The Catch Fishing Report 07-23-06
Welcome Angler,
Featured Guide Perry Lewis of Troutfitter Sports checks-in with this Sunday morning report:
Flys observed within the past 24-72 hours: Green Drakes, Golden stones, Smaller Mayflies
Hares Ear, and Copper John
The hot fly has been the Size #16 stimulator, various colors on the Upper Taylor and
on the area creeks.
Noted weather effects: Heavy rains muddied waters but things are clearing up.
I expect fishing to get real hot over the next few days as water clears
and fish begin to feed hard.
Perry's Fishing Synopsis: Fishing is still great in the Gunnison Valley. Hoppers are
beginning to produce well. Expect to find slow periods throughout the day
especially as water and air temperatures heat up. Riffles will be most productive
during the heat of the day with fish returning to banks and shallows for the evening
hatch. Good evening spinner fall will take fish. Salmon are being reported
in the lower Gunnison. Here they come. Be patient, switch it up and hire a good guide.
Thanks to Perry Lewis of Troutfitter Sports for today's report. Thank you for checking in.
Fish-on!
