The Catch Fishing Report

Greetings Angler,

It's great to be back in Crested Butte.  After three weeks of salt and freshwater fishing in Southeast Alaska, I thoroughly enjoyed my first afternoon back on the good old home river, the clear and cool Slate.  Since I've been gone, the Slate has mellowed considerably (today's USGS River Flow).   I was able to bring a fish in.  It's nice to see these outstanding water features in these post run-off conditions.

Today's fishing weather started cloudy, cool, and comfortable.  It had me questioning whether or not I had actually left Southeast Alaska for a little while.  Around mid-day I ventured out between the willows and was greeting by a Great Blue Heron fly-over.  After wading down stream about a 1/4 mile I came to the deep pool just off the main current.  It didn't take long...Nice fish.
