The Catch Fishing Report-Alaska Edition
Greetings,
Our FishingTravelNetwork.com Alaskan Fishing Trip is coming to a close. However, fishing is heating up back home in the Gunnison Valley! Here is the latest fishing report from Almont Anglers, our Featured Travel Partner:
East River - Flows are dropping and fish are rising! Flows at Almont have dropped almost 300 cfs to 500 cfs on Monday. Caddisflies, PMDs, Yellow Sallies, orange stoneflies and green drakes are hatching. Remember, the East River is open to fly fishing only.
Gunnison River (Upper from Almont to Blue Mesa) - Runoff is over, and flows have leveled off to around 1,200 cfs. Fishing is great. Wading is still a little tricky, but the fishing is worth filling the waders now and then. Days have been warm, so hit it early, through midday, and again in the evening. Everything has been hatching: green drakes, caddis, PMDs, stoneflies - even the grasshoppers.
Taylor River - Taylor Reservoir is as full as it has been in years ,so flows this week have been increased about 150 cfs to 435 cfs. Wading will be a little tricky through July, but fishing should be great. Some of our largest hatches of caddis have been happening late afternoon into the evening. Green drakes are just starting to hatch in the lower Taylor, along with stoneflies, Yellow Sallies, PMDs, Mahogany Duns and BWOs.
Thanks to Almont Anglers for the report. Thank you for checking in today!
