Daily Catch Fishing Report 05-13-06
Good Morning!
Well the good news this morning is that the Slate River is running clear as a bell. Which, I'm told by a 30-plus year homeowner is normal. Only in the big flood years does the Slate run cloudy.
Have we found the "groundhog" indicator of the duration of spring run-off in the beautiful Slate River? If the Slate is clear, does that mean only 3 three more weeks of run-off? It's probably too early to tell, but something we'll keep an eye on.
It's not that you can't fish during run-off, far from it, as evidenced by this past week's reports from Spring Creek, Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, and Blue Mesa reservoir. But when the waters clear, water flows decrease, eddy's and holes reappear, and the days grow warm you know the season is fully upon us. It won't be long.
The best way to get in the fish is with an experienced guide. Find our featured guides and custom fishing experiences at FishCrestedButte.com. We'll see you out there today!
Fish-on,
